They’re cute. They’re fluffy. They’re loyal. And they’re playful!

Our beloved canine companions have become increasingly common sightings at truck stops.

Besides being cute and lovely, they help reduce stress and provide comfort for drivers away from home.

They’re also great encouragement for going out for walks and getting exercise in a job that’s incredibly stationary.

Fleets of all sizes are now adopting policies to allow pets in their trucks.

But there are some pointers you need to keep in mind while driving with your furry friend:

  • Some fleets impose restrictions on pet weights.
  • If your route encounters cold weather, please carry boots, sweaters, and blankets for your pets to keep them comfortable and warm.
  • Take them out for walks at regular intervals. Being cooped up in the cab isn’t good for anyone, especially animals.
  • When taking them for a walk, stay alert to your surroundings and traffic, especially at busy truck stops.
  • Remember to carry proof of vaccinations for your pets when facing a border crossing. Your veterinarian should be able to provide the necessary documentation – some even offer pet passports! How cute is that?!

With these in mind, you’re ready to have your four-legged friend accompany you on your journey. Motor on safely!
